What is this practice?

Read each clock and write the hour and minutes. 6 clocks. No minute numbers — count the marks.

Why this level

Step: Grade 1 · Add & Subtract・Around ages 6–7, Grade 1 (guide)

Clocks are hard because two hands point at different things. Minute steps come last, and this sheet drops the minute numbers.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • Read the short hand first.
  • Then count the minutes on the long hand.
  • Setting a real clock to the same time helps.
