What is this practice?
Hours and half hours are mixed. Circle the clock that comes first in each pair.
Why this level
Step: Step 3 · Write & Read・Around age 6 and up (guide)
One pair puts the same hour against its half hour (4 o’clock and half past 4). The short hands sit in almost the same place, so the long hand has to be read. On the earlier sheets the long hand was fixed; here it decides the answer.
Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.
The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.
For grown-ups
- Tell your child: when the short hands match, look at the long hand.
- If it goes wrong, point at each hand in turn and compare.
- Do this after the on-the-hour version.
