What is this practice?
An example shape is on the left. Draw the same shape on the dots at the right. 2 problems on the sheet.
Why this level
Step: Step 2 · Trace・Around ages 4–5 (guide)
The grid holds 25 dots. Tracing sheets only ask the hand to follow a line; here the child decides which dot to draw from and to. Counting “second down, third across” to find the place is the skill being practised. Each shape is 5 lines and can be drawn without lifting the pencil.
Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.
The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.
For grown-ups
- Finding the starting dot before drawing avoids confusion.
- Counting the dots with a finger keeps the place.
- A crooked line is fine as long as it joins the right dots.
