What is this practice?

Read the bar chart and answer 4 questions. Pictures under each bar say what it counts.

Why this level

Step: Grade 2 · Times Tables・Around ages 7–8, Grade 2 (guide)

One chart, four kinds of question: read a value, find the largest, find the smallest, then compare by subtracting. Same picture, different skill each time.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • Slide a finger from the bar top to the scale.
  • "How many more" is a subtraction.
  • A number or a name is fine.
