What is this practice?

Count the pictures on the left and write the number in the box on the right. 4 questions.

Why this level

Step: Step 3 · Write & ReadAround age 6 and up (guide)

On the “circle the number” sheets a child can guess from three choices; here the number is written, so it cannot be answered without knowing it. The largest question has 10. The box is 24mm, the same size as on the hiragana tracing sheets, and no faint model is given.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • Count aloud with a finger pressed on each one.
  • Please don’t correct the shape of the numeral. Having counted is what matters.
  • If writing is hard, counting on fingers and saying it aloud is fine.
