What is this practice?

Only the top-left one is the example. Draw the other 8 yourself, starting at the ●.

Why this level

Step: Step 3 · Write & Read・Around age 6 and up (guide)

Up and to the right. Vertical and horizontal lines can borrow the paper’s edge as a guide; a diagonal has none, so the angle is the child’s own. Only the top-left one is a solid example; the other 8 have just the four corner marks. With no line to follow, the size and the angle are the child’s own decisions. Handing over the tracing sheet for the same shape first makes it less likely to stall.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

Please don’t correct a shape that differs from the example.
Uneven sizes are fine. What matters first is that the child can draw it unaided.
If it is too hard, go back to the tracing sheet for the same shape.
