Why this level

Step: Step 3 · Write & Read・Around age 6 and up (guide)

The pairs used are ㄣ / ㄥ, ㄤ / ㄢ, ㄏ / ㄒ, ㄑ / ㄍ — shapes children commonly confuse. Unrelated symbols are not included. Picking one out of 4 means comparing them all before deciding.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • Point at each one in turn and compare.
  • Finding the matching ones first leaves the answer behind.
