What is this practice?

The five characters な に ぬ ね の. Four of the five boxes hold a faint character, so a whole sheet is almost all tracing.

Why this level

Step: Step 1 · Grip・Around ages 2–3 (guide)

A normal sheet has two faint characters; this one has 4. Too many blank boxes and a child who does not know the characters yet simply stops. Only the last box is written unaided, so the sheet can end on “I finished one.”

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • Stopping after the tracing is fine.
  • Please don’t worry about stroke order. At this stage the shape comes first.
