What is this practice?
Cut down into a long horizontal strip from the top. The cuts stop short of the bottom, so the paper never falls apart. 5 strips on the sheet.
Why this level
Step: Step 1 · Grip・Around ages 2–3 (guide)
Each cut is 21mm — short enough to finish by closing the scissors once. 7mm is left at the bottom of the strip, and that margin is the signal to stop. There are 35 cuts in all, but there is no need to do them all.
Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.
The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.
For grown-ups
- An adult must stay beside the child at all times.
- Holding the paper for your child lets them concentrate only on cutting.
- Hold the top afterwards and shake it — the fringe moves like hair.
