What is this practice?

Cut out the 4 framed pictures and they become cards. Good for matching games or playing shop.

Why this level

Step: Step 2 · TraceAround ages 4–5 (guide)

Each card is 91×111mm. The cards share their edges, so 3 straight cuts running right across the sheet separate all 4 of them. Cutting each card out on its own would mean turning the paper at four corners per card, which is where a child new to scissors stops. The sheet leaves something to play with afterwards because cutting practice on its own wears thin.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • An adult must stay beside the child at all times.
  • Put the blades in at the ● and cut straight through to the far edge.
  • Coloring them in afterwards makes them your child’s own cards.

For safety

For grown-ups: An adult must stay beside the child. Use round-tipped scissors made for children.
