What is this practice?

6 things that are yellow, and nothing else. Color them all yellow; there is nothing to pick out.

Why this level

Step: Step 1 · Grip・Around ages 2–3 (guide)

Every picture here is yellow — 6 of them. With nothing to get wrong, a two-year-old can finish the sheet. Sorting sheets, where some pictures must be left blank, ask for the harder judgement that something is *not* the color. Things that could be any color are left out, so every picture would get the same answer from anyone.

Ages are only a guide. Children of the same age can do different things, so each card also shows what a child can already do.

The sheet title and the note for grown-ups are printed in English. Words inside the activity itself stay in Japanese or Traditional Chinese.

For grown-ups

  • Saying the name of each thing while coloring helps it stick.
  • Going outside the lines is fine; the shapes are large on purpose.
  • Afterwards, look around the house for other things of the same color.
